The Washington County Public School District announced three options for learning that parents/guardians can consider for the 2020-2021 school year.

In a letter addressed to parents/guardians, the school district explained that it is very important that students and staff are safe and comfortable in their learning environment for the upcoming school year.

“We have heard your concerns and have designed three options for you to choose from,” reads a letter from the Washington County Public School District.

Parents/guardians will have the following options to choose from: traditional, hybrid, and blended remote.

With the traditional model, students will attend school Monday-Friday and participate in the traditional classroom model. Classes would resume on August 7.

The hybrid option has students attending school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students will participate in distance learning on the days they are not on site. All work completed off-site will be graded as if the student was in school. Classes would resume August 11.

The third option is the blended remote where students complete school work using the virtual/distance learning method 100 percent of the time.  Parents can choose between learning packets or online instruction via a web-based platform such as Zoom or Google Classroom. All work completed off-site will be graded as if the student was in school.

With each option, the school district has outlined the safety precautions, the duration/timeframe, the athletic/arts component, assessments, food service options, and transportation. To see the form for additional information about the three learning proposals Click Here.

According to the Washington County Public School District, these options have been carefully crafted and align with guidelines from the CDC and the DPH.

“We are working hard to ensure that your child has a safe, fun, and comfortable atmosphere to learn, grow, and play,” reads the letter from the school district.

One form will need to be completed for each child. Hard copies are available at all schools and the board office. Forms are due back by July 13, 2020 and can be returned to the schools, board office, or scanned and emailed to 2020learning@wacoschools.org.
