On, Saturday July 25, Washington County Regional Medical Center (WCRMC) CEO Dave Flanders took to social media to pen a service public announcement to the Washington County community concerning the local condition of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
CEO Flanders stated that WCRMC is currently treating 7 COVID-19 positive individuals, which is the largest amount of inpatients that the hospital has seen at a certain time since they began treating COVID-19 patients.
“The positivity rate at our drive-thru test site continues to be between 15% and 20%. Our community has had 326 total positive cases with many of those recovering; although, even with most of our patients recovering, this is still a dangerous virus and we continue to see a significant rise in cases in Washington County,” said Flanders in his post to the WCRMC Facebook page.
According to the latest Georgia Department of Public Health status report from Saturday, July 25, Washington County has seen a total of 326 COVID-19 positive cases, 23 COVID-19 related hospitalizations, and 1 COVID-19 related death since testing began.
“As CEO of Washington County Regional Medical Center, I urge our community heed what our county and state departments of health are instructing us to do,” said CEO Flanders. “Community members should take this very seriously and do their part in helping slow the spread of COVID-19. Avoid crowds whenever possible, social distance yourself from others, always wear a mask or face covering when in public, and be vigilant about hand washing and sanitizing.”
The Washington County Regional Medical Center social media post reiterated the ongoing state of operations for the hospital. WCRMC is currently continuing their policy of allowing no visitors into the hospital or Extended Care Facility. WCRMC staff screen all individuals who enter the hospital with temperature checks and potential exposure questions.
“Washington County Regional Medical Center is doing everything possible to keep our patients, staff, and community safe and the hospital open for business. Should you need to get tested, please contact your medical provider for an order for testing. If you are seriously ill and need immediate treatment, please come to the hospital’s emergency department,” said WCRMC CEO Dave Flanders.
