Recount of Presidential Election Votes By Hand Begins In Washington County

On Wednesday, November 11, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger stated that a statewide audit would be held concerning votes in the state of Georgia for the 2020 presidential election.

A recount by hand will be required in each of Georgia’s 159 counties.

The Washington County Elections Office is set to begin a hand count of Washington County votes at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 13 at the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Tennille.

A recount deadline of 12:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 19 is being imposed.

The recount is open to public viewing from a designated observation area.

As previously reported by WACO 100, the unofficial and incomplete results of the Tuesday, November 3 General Election saw 9,445 votes for the presidential election in Washington County. 72.7 percent of active Washington County voters participated.

The Incumbent Republican Donald J. Trump received 4,658 votes or 49.3 percent of the vote. Democrat Joseph R. Biden received 4,721 votes or 49.9 percent of the vote. Libertarian Jo Jorgensen received 66 votes or .7 percent of the vote.

In Georgia, Trump received 2,457,846 votes or 49.2 percent. Biden received 2,471,917 votes or 49.5 percent. Jorgensen received 62,057 votes or 1.2 percent. These totals are with 99 percent of votes originally counted.

The presidential election will be the only political race from the 2020 General Election to receive the hand count.
