Washington County Public Schools announced two remote learning days for students and teachers scheduled for Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1.

In a letter to parents and guardians, Washington County School Superintendent Dr. Rickey Edmond explained that these two remote learning days serve as a “trial run” in the event of a flu or COVID-19 outbreak.

“We want to ensure that your child will have a seamless transition between face-to-face instruction and remote instruction,” said Superintendent Dr. Edmond. “Washington County Schools take the health, safety, and education of our students and staff very seriously.”

Dr. Edmond went on to explain that this trial run is designed to ensure that the school system remains proactive, not reactive.

Schools and teachers will provide more information regarding these two remote learning days.

“We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, and want to extend our sincere thanks for your continuous support and flexibility,” said Superintendent Dr. Edmond.

Meals will be available for pick-up at all school sites on those two remote learning days. Parents and guardians can select the site that is most convenient. The meal pick-up schedule will be announced at a later date.

All after school activities scheduled for those two days will take place.

Washington County Schools’ Thanksgiving Break is scheduled for Monday, November 23 – Friday, November 27.

The Remote Learning days are Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1.

Option A and B students will return to school as normal on Wednesday, December 2.

Parents/guardians with questions or concerns can contact your child’s individual school.
