Newly elected members of the Tennille City Council were sworn in during a called Tennille Council meeting on Thursday, November 12.
Rhonda Lemons and Deborah Rhodes were victorious in the Tuesday, November 3 Special Election to fill the two vacant Tennille City Council seats.
Rhonda Lemons faced Sidney Swan for the District 2, Post 1 City Council Seat. According to the official and complete election results, Lemons received 155 votes, or 68.28 percent, while Swan received 70 votes, or 30.84 percent.
Prior to Lemons’ election, this Council seat for District 2, Post 1 was held by Marlene Garrard Veal.
In the District 3, Post 1 race, Deborah Rhodes faced Bobby ‘Weston’ Williford. According to the official and complete election results, Rhodes received 104 votes, or 58.43 percent, while Williford received 72 votes, or 40.45 percent.
Prior to Rhodes’ election, this Council seat for District 3, Post 1 was held by Elaine Walk.
During the called meeting, City Attorney Michael Howard conducted the swearing in ceremony where the two newly elected members of Tennille City Council vowed to faithfully perform the duties of Council member for their respective districts within the City of Tennille.
