An autopsy performed on Marquavious Parks by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday, December 29 revealed that Parks drowned, with gunshot wounds contributing to his death following a shooting incident at Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

As previously reported by WACO 100, on Sunday, December 27, at approximately 10:39 p.m., two males were in Washington County for a contraband drop at the Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

K-9 officers working the contraband drop got into a shooting incident with Marquavious Rashod Parks, 26, of Athens. One officer was hit; he was transported to a hospital in Augusta with non-life-threatening injuries. That officer was treated and released.

26-year-old Marquavious Rashod Parks was found deceased in a nearby pond.

The second male, identified as 51-year-old John Frank Snow of Monroe, Georgia, was taken into custody.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections to investigate an officer involved shooting that took place on the perimeter of the Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

According to the GBI, the investigation indicates that the items believed to be contraband found at the scene were intended to be introduced into the prison.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation of the officer involved shooting. Upon completion, it will be submitted to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.

51-year-old John Frank Snow is currently booked in the Washington County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer and felony murder.
