Author Pat MacEnulty once wrote, “Who doesn’t love a library? It is a place you can go in any town and discover the world.”

The world is ready for discovery in Washington County with the full re-opening of the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the library was closed for several months in 2020. In May of last year, the library staff began offering curbside book check-out options as a creative approach to help encourage reading.

Most recently, the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library Board announced that effective June 1, the library would open its doors under the pre-COVID-19 guidelines.

These new guidelines mean that masks are not required; however, if you wish to wear a mask, you can. Also, appointments are no longer required to check-out reading materials from the library or to use the computers. In addition, library staff will not conduct temperature checks prior to entering the facility.

The Library Board invites everyone to visit the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library to enjoy the books, magazines, videos, computers, research materials, and programs available at the facility located at 314 South Harris Street in Sandersville.

The Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library hours of operation include:

– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
– Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
– Fridays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
– Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
