G.P.’s Enterprises presented a short-term and a long-term proposal concerning Jones Road to Washington County Commissioners during the County’s Thursday, August 12 meeting.
As previously reported by WACO 100, Commissioners met with representatives from the Georgia Department of Transportation and G.P.’s Enterprises concerning the current state of Jones Road during a called meeting on July 21. G.P.’s agreed to provide a written proposal concerning temporary repairs and long-term solutions for Jones Road to the County. During the called meeting, the Commissioners asked that a representative from G.P.’s attend the County’s August 12 meeting.
A representative from G.P.’s Enterprises was present during the August 12 County meeting, and explained that G.P.’s will maintain Jones Road weekly and after any substantial rainfall for the entirety of the project.
When they [G.P.’s] finish hauling dirt, G.P.’s plans to restore the road to pre-construction condition or better.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Washington County Commissioners Horace Daniel questioned the representative about how long the project will continue. The representative from G.P.’s stated that they did not have an exact date, but estimated that it should take 12 months or less.
“We appreciate you working with us,” said Chairman of the Washington County Commissioners Horace Daniel.
Chairman Daniel explained during the August 12 meeting that residents living on Jones Road were concerned, and thanked G.P.’s for a resolution.
Commissioner Edward Burten, who represents the residents on Jones Road, stated that this agreement “helps a lot.”
County Attorney Michael Howard remarked that the letter satisfied the County’s concerns.
“They’ll fix the road back to the way it was, and that’s a win-win,” said County Attorney Howard. He added, “I appreciate their cooperation, and I appreciate them presenting this to the Commissioners.”
