Qualifying for the City of Tennille’s District 2, Post 2 City Council seat has been extended for the second time.
Originally, qualifying took place from Monday, August 16 through Friday, August 20; however, because no one qualified for that particular City Council seat, the City re-opened qualifying for Monday, August 20 and Tuesday, August 21. No one qualified during that time.
Citizens living in District 2 will have another opportunity to qualify beginning Monday, August 30 through Tuesday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Tennille City Hall located at 106 Park Street in Tennille. The qualifying fee for City Council is $108.
The number of people who qualify for the District 2, Post 2 City Council seat will determine whether or not an election must take place in November. If only one person qualifies, no election will be required in the City of Tennille.
The Mayoral seat and five of the City Council positions saw no opposition during the initial qualifying period. Those qualified candidates include:
– Mayor of the City of Tennille: Incumbent Eartha Cummings
– Councilperson for District 1, Post 1: Incumbent Brainard Crawford
– Councilperson for District 1, Post 2: Clifford Coleman
– Councilperson for District 2, Post 1: Incumbent Rhonda Lemons
– Councilperson for District 3, Post 1: Incumbent Deborah Rhodes
– Councilperson for District 3, Post 2: Incumbent David Hartley
If more than one person qualifies for the Tennille City Council seat for District 2, Post 2, the election will take place on Tuesday, November 2.
