Washington County’s Unemployment Rate Falls to 3.9 Percent

The Georgia Department of Labor recently reported Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of July 2021.

The latest statistics from the Department of Labor show Washington County with a 3.9 percent unemployment rate, a decrease from the previous month. Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of June 2021 was 5.5 percent. For July of 2020, Washington County’s unemployment rate was 8.0 percent.

According to data presented by the Georgia Department of Labor’s Workforce Statistics and Economic Research shows the labor force for Washington County during July of this year was 6,790 with 6,522 employed and 268 unemployed. The previous month’s work force was 6,915 with 6,536 employed and 379 unemployed. These numbers are not seasonally adjusted.

Unemployment rates for July 2021 as reported by the Georgia Department of Labor for surrounding counties are as follows:

– Baldwin: 4.0 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 5.8 percent
– Glascock: 1.9 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 3.4 percent
– Hancock: 5.2 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 6.9 percent
– Jefferson: 4.1 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 5.6 percent
– Johnson: 2.9 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.0 percent
– Laurens: 3.5 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 5.0 percent
– Wilkinson: 3.2 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.5 percent

The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) was 3.6 percent in July of 2021. This is a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.8 percent. The unemployment rate for the Central Savannah River Region was 7.7 percent in July of 2020.

The Central Savannah River Region includes the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes.

Georgia’s “not seasonally-adjusted” unemployment rate for July 2021 was 3.2 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.5 percent. In July of 2020, the state unemployment rate was 8.1 percent.
