Georgia Governor Brian Kemp made a stop in Washington County on Thursday, April 14 to discuss his campaign for re-election.
“It’s great to be back in Sandersville,” said Governor Kemp when meeting with the public at Kaolin Plaza. He added, “My family and I have been here many times over my career, but we also visit as a family stopping at the Dairy Lane to get ice cream and chili dogs.”
Governor Kemp stated that he is currently traveling across the state, reminding the public that he’s delivered on the promises he made in 2018.
“We’re not taking this May 24 Primary for granted,” said Governor Kemp. “We realize we’ve got to win this Primary first, and we’re wanting to remind people of our record.”
Governor Kemp stated that he fought for Georgians during COVID-19.
“I fought to reopen our economy – protecting lives, as well as livelihoods,” said Governor Kemp. “Georgians are strong, they’re resilient, and they’re not asking for a handout; they want to be given the opportunity to live and fight another day, and that’s what we gave them – we gave them the choice to do that.”
Governor Kemp remarked that Georgia was one of the first states to get children back in the classroom in response to COVID-19.
“We didn’t say it was going to be easy; we didn’t say we weren’t going to have problems, but everyone was having to fight through it,” said Governor Kemp. “We had to tools to do it; we had the data and the science to do it.”
Brian Kemp was elected Governor of Georgia on November 6, 2018. He is running for re-election. While in Washington County, Kemp asked for support of local voters in the May 24 Primary.
Brian and his wife Marty have three daughters – Jarrett, Lucy, and Amy Porter.
