
Airman First Class, Jackson James Knight, age 19, of Washington County passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 11:00 A.M. in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille with military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the May & Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Knight was born on January 21, 2003, in Sandersville. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County. Jack graduated from the Washington County High School in 2021, where he excelled in wrestling, track, and cross country. During high school, Mr. Knight worked alongside father in his family’s masonry business and with Kyle Watkins in lawn care service. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. During his Senior year of school, Jack joined the delayed entry program of the United States Air Force. Mr. Knight entered the service on August 10 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and graduated the 321st Training Squadron Flight 372 Wart Hogs on September 30. Following graduation, Jack trained in aircraft fuel and maintenance at the Sheppard Air Force Base Technical School. He first reported for duty in December to the Air Combat Command Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System at Robins Air Force Base as a member of the 461st Maintenance Squadron. Jack was known to never meet a stranger and was deeply loved by many family members and friends.
Survivors include his parents, James and Shelly Knight of Harrison; siblings, Lee Marshall, Jessica Wildes and her husband Josh, William Knight, C.J. Knight, Zeke Knight, and Joseph Knight; grandparents, Mickey and Edward Blankenship of Harrison; and multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
