Each year, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce recognizes a senior student from the Washington County High School and Brentwood School as STAR Students.

Award winners have the highest score on any single SAT test date taken through the month of November during their 12th grade year. Students must also have a grade point average in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their graduating class.

The Washington County High School STAR Student is Claire Buck.

Seth Taylor has been named as the Brentwood School STAR Student.

In turn, recipients are rewarded with the opportunity to choose and recognize a STAR Teacher.

Claire Buck selected Laurie McCaskill as her STAR Teacher for the Washington County High School.

Christy Wallace was chosen by Seth Taylor as his Brentwood School STAR Teacher.

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the PAGE Foundation. It honors the state of Georgia’s highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers they deem as being most instrumental to their academic development.

District-level winners will be announced at the upcoming STAR Student / STAR Teacher recognition event presented by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
