An early morning house fire has claimed the life of one individual.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, local fire crews, emergency medical service personnel, and sheriff’s office deputies responded to calls of a multi-dwelling residential fire on Middle Hill Road between Sandersville and Warthen.

“Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed in flames,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “Fire crews battled the flames for over two hours before getting the blaze under control.”

A total of three apartments were destroyed by the fire, according to the Sheriff.

The incident resulted in the death of Temorie Renae Hill, age 42, formerly of Sparta.

Potential causes are currently under investigation by the Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers,” said Sheriff Cochran.
