Mr. James Theron Lane, age 80, of Bartow-Dublin Road in Wrightsville passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 4th at 2:00 P.M. in the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Joe Crosby will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the Church.

Mr. Lane was born on February 2, 1943, in Augusta, the son of the late James Fred Lane and the late Erma Hazel Herrington Lane. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy and attended the University of Georgia to play football prior to a career-ending injury. Theron then began a lengthy career in the power industry as a lineman for Georgia Power Company and Substation Supervisor for Jefferson EMC. Mr. Lane was a member and deacon of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and also attended the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed the outdoors – deer hunting, camping, and woodworking. Theron is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emily Grace Waller, and brother, Sheldon Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Joye Magruder Lane; children, Theron Marshall Lane and wife Kim of Martinez, Scott Patrick Lane and wife Christina of Anderson, South Carolina, and Sherri Lane Waller and husband Doug of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Megan Lane, Marshall Hunter Lane, Christine Lane, Shelby Raye Puckett, and Abigail Elizabeth Pettenger; and five great-grandchildren.
