Aimee Marie Anderson, age 61, of Sandersville peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 2:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Tony Mimbs will officiate. Pallbearers will be Timothy Black, Austin Guidry, Maclane Guidry, Troy Morris, Liam O’Conner, and Jason Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gabriel Anderson, Aaron Black, Joel Guidry, Joseph Guidry, Joshua Guidry, and Paul Guidry. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service in the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of the late William Paul Guidry, Sr. and the late Kathryn Sindalar Guidry. She was reared in an often-relocating United States Air Force family and graduated high school in Burlington County New Jersey. Aimee worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a position which led her to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. In 1991, she married her husband, Shannon, and moved to Sandersville to work in same-day-surgery at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Anderson later relocated to Jonesboro, Tennessee for employment at Greene Mountain Pediatrics. Aimee enjoyed living in the mountains and camping, but found her greatest joy in helping raise her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring, inviting, and loving nature. Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Guidry.
Survivors include her husband, Shannan M. Anderson of Sandersville; children, Patrick Afflerback of Sandersville, Matthew Anderson and fiancé Alexus Booth of Milledgeville, and Lori Hernandez and husband Juan; grandchildren, Gage Afflerback, Evan Anderson, Lydia Brinson, Braylee Reker, and Mark Hernandez; and siblings, Paul and Fran Guidry of New Jersey, Fred and Jolynn Black of Augusta, Duane and Mary Jo Guidry of New Jersey, Michael and Lynda Smith of Grovetown, Cindy Guidry of Augusta, and Martin and Denise Guidry of New Jersey.
