Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Greenwood, age 80, of Kinney Street in Sandersville peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 29 at 11:00 A.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel of Sandersville. Dr. Frank Hutcheson will officiate. A private burial will be held in Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Greenwood was born and reared in Sandersville, the daughter of the late Cecil Greenwood and the late Louise Turner Greenwood. She was a graduate of the Washington County High School. Early in her adult life, Jenny married the now-late Aubrey Sheppard and began raising their family. Mrs. Greenwood was a longtime resident of Orlando, Florida, working in administration for Universal Studios and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. She returned home to Sandersville in 2010 to be near her family. Jenny was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Greenwood loved all animals and held a passion for rescuing cats. She enjoyed going to the movies and watching black and white films on television. Jenny is preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Greenwood.

Survivors include her children, Russell Sheppard and wife Kathy, Trevor Sheppard and wife Ramona, and Cecilia L. Sheppard all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Anna Sheppard of Milledgeville, Ross Sheppard of Savannah, Justin Sheppard of Sandersville, Lauren S. Macke and husband Brad of Sandersville, and Katie Sheppard of Sandersville; great-granddaughter, Caroline Deal; one great-grandson-to-be; and sister-in-law, Peggy Greenwood of Kissimmee, Florida.
