Mrs. Claude Dudley Bellew, age 95, of Warthen passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at her residence. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 2:00 P.M. in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery of Warthen. Reverend Don Black and Reverend Gary Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17th from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Mrs. Bellew was born in Jefferson County and reared in Washington County, the daughter of the late Thomas W. Dudley and the late Elizabeth Cobb Dudley. She was a 1945 graduate of the Sandersville High School. Claude spent her working career as a Seamstress for Royal Manufacturing before retiring to care for family as a Homemaker. Mrs. Bellew was a longtime member of the Balerma Baptist Church and most recently a member of the Pine Hill Methodist Church, prioritizing her attendance each week. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and cooking – well known for her delicious pecan pies. Claude would often be seen tending to her yards, even into her 90’s. Mrs. Bellew most cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bellew is preceded in death by her husband, George Alfred Bellew, and her siblings.

Survivors include her children, Faye Burgamy and husband Duck of Warthen, Alfred Bellew and wife Connie of Sandersville, and Claudette Andrews and husband Windell of Sandersville; grandchildren, Dawn Brown and husband Tony of Alpharetta, Paula Maxwell and husband Jason of Bonaire, Kelli Whitted and husband Robert of Columbus, and David Bellew and wife Chrissy of Fernandina Beach, Florida; step-grandchildren, Keith Andrews and wife Tina of Sandersville and Michele Durden and husband Chris of Sandersville; great-grandchildren, Madison Brown, Maci Brown, Benjamin Whitted and wife Rachel, Lydia Whitted, Avery Bellew, Eliot Bellew, Evan Bellew, Caroline Maxwell, Jake Maxwell, Ryan Maxwell, and Michelle Canada; step-great-grandchildren, Hannah Maxwell, Dylan Andrews, and Kristin Beggs and husband Joe; and great-great-grandchildren, Blakely Rush, Bayler Rush, and Kolson Diel.
