Malana Sanders and Harris McClarin have been announced as the 2024 STAR Students by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, the Chamber recognizes the senior students from the Washington County High School and Brentwood School who achieved the highest score on a single SAT taken through the month of November during their 12th grade year. The winners must also possess a grade point average in the top ten percent or top ten students of their graduating class.

The Washington County High School STAR Student is Malana Sanders.

Harris McClarin is the Brentwood School STAR Student.

In turn, the award-winning seniors are tasked with selecting their STAR Teachers, the educators they deem most influential in contributing to their academic development.

Laurie McCaskill was selected by Malana Sanders as STAR Teacher for the Washington County High School.

Harris McClarin chose Allison Doolittle as Brentwood School STAR Teacher.

“The Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the STAR Students and Teachers for 2024,” said Katie Moncus, Washington County Chamber of Commerce President. “The Chamber has recognized many STARs over the years and we are proud to add Harris and Melana to the prestigious list.”

Now in its 66th year, the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation.

The Washington County District-level STAR Student will be announced during the February 8 STAR recognition event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
