The Washington County Board of Elections and Registration recently released the names of individuals who qualified to run for local elected positions in the upcoming May 21 Primary Election.
Of the eight positions to be on the ballot, only one sees opposition.
Seven of the eight incumbents seek reelection.
Incumbent Sheriff Joel Cochran will face Henry Tanner in a race for Washington County Sheriff in the sole contested position.
The following incumbents face no opposition: Chief Magistrate Judge Calvin Lee Hatcher, Clerk of Superior Court Megan Cramer, Probate Judge Russell Sheppard, Coroner E.K. May, State Court Judge John Dana, and State Court Solicitor Michael Howard.
Incumbent Washington County Tax Commissioner Jeannette Anderson is not seeking reelection.
Neil Pittman runs unopposed for the role.
Monday, April 22 will be the final day to register to vote or change address in the Primary Election.
Early voting will span from Monday, April 29 through Friday, May 17. It will be held in the Washington County Board of Elections and Registration Office from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m Monday through Friday.
Saturday voting opportunities will be offered on May 4 and May 11.
The last day for voters to request an absentee ballot is Friday, May 10.
Election Day will be Tuesday, May 21. Primary polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
