Mr. Billy Frank Duggan, Sr., age 92, of Betty Street in Sandersville passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, April 28 at 3:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel of Sandersville with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens pf Sandersville. Reverend Trip Hodges III will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mr. Duggan’s grandsons. Deacons of the Tennille Christian Church, members of the Georgia National Guard, and former co-workers of Thiele Kaolin Company will sit as Honorary Groups. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the May & Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Duggan was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Franklin E. Duggan and the late Ethel Brantley Duggan. He was raised on a farm and graduated from high school in Harrison. Billy began his working career with Thiele Kaolin Company, prior to being drafted by the United States Army. Mr. Duggan proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in Germany, where he was awarded an Occupation Ribbon. He continued his military service with the Georgia National Guard, retiring as a Captain. Billy spent his entire working career at Thiele, retiring in 1994 following 45 years as a Shift Foreman. Mr. Duggan was a longtime and active member of the Tennille Christian Church, serving as a Church Deacon and on the Church Board. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Billy was a car enthusiast, visiting many car shows and museums. Mr. Duggan was regarded as a hard worker, always prioritizing his efforts into family, church, and work. He is preceded in death by his wives, Peggy, Jerry, and Jandall; and his sister, Rachel Duggan Garland.

Survivors include his children, Deborah D. Fessler and husband Paul of Villa Rica, Ronnie Duggan and wife Vicki of Sandersville, and Billy Duggan, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Adel; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
