Nine Individuals Arrested Over Six Days For Alleged Prison Contraband Crimes

Last week, nine individuals were arrested over a six day span for alleged contraband related crimes at the Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

Local officers and deputies seized seven pounds of marijuana, two pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of tobacco, two pounds of ecstasy, three drones, and fifteen cell phones.

“Contraband flow poses a serious threat to the safety and security of our communities,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “The collaboration between the Washington State Prison and the Georgia Department of Corrections has been pivotal in these operations. Together, we remain committed to upholding the integrity of Washington County and ensuring the safety of both the inmates and staff at the Washington State Prison.”

Lonnie Moore, age 32, of Hepzibah, Joseph Sims, age 24, of Augusta, and Burtron Barnes, age 32, of Augusta were arrested on conspiracy to commit a crime charges.

Deangelo Myers, 38 years old, of Douglas and Tereance Horne, 37 years old, of Union City were taken into custody on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and ecstasy, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, usage of an unmanned aircraft to accomplish violations, crossing of guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, or drugs, among others.

22-year-old Jaquay Haynes and 24-year-old Michael Martin both of Augusta were arrested on a litany of drug possession and crossing of guard line charges.

Christian Mack, age 21, of Keysville and Quintavion Baker, age 28 of Peachtree City were taken into custody for alleged crimes of trading with inmates and illegal usage of a drone.

Since the start of 2023, over 20 thwarted prison contraband by drone related crimes have resulted in 54 arrests.
