WACO Schools are ensuring that local children will be well-fed while out of classes this summer.
The Washington County Public School District is offering meals to children 18 years of age and younger at no cost.
Their School Nutrition Summer Feeding Program can be utilized through three options: Parent Pick-Up, On-Site Meals, and Community Meals.
With the Parent Pick-Up option, parents or guardians can pick-up a meal from the covered bus ramp of the IGAL Academy at 423 Industrial Drive in Sandersville. Meals are available Monday through Thursday from June 3 to June 27 and must be picked-up from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Through this option, parents are required to reserve the meal by 12:00 p.m. the day prior to pick-up online at wacoschools.org/school-nutrition. Only a parent or guardian may pick-up the meal for the child.
Washington County Public Schools are also offering summer meals through an On-Site option from both the Ridge Road Complex at 285 Ridge Road and Washington County High School at 420 Riddleville Road. Meals are offered Monday through Thursday from June 3 to June 27. They must be eaten on-site and can not be taken to-go. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The Washington County School District is also taking meals into the community on select days with their Community Meals option. Meals will be available for Tuesday pick-up from Davisboro City Hall at 201 North Main Street on June 4, June 11, and June 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday meals can be picked-up from the Tennille City Park at 106 Park Street on June 5, June, 12, and June 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Community Meals will also be offered for Thursday pick-up from the Washington Estates Community Room at 601 Washington Drive in Tennille on June 5, June 13, and June 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
With each option, one meal will be limited to each child per day.
At each location, children will also have the opportunity to pick-up a book from the WACO Reads Summer Bookmobile, as a part of the School District’s year-round efforts to advance literacy in Washington County.
