Recent busts have seized and removed a large quantity of drugs from local streets.

Last week on Wednesday, May 22, while following up on a previous crime, Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office encountered two men in the yard of an abandoned house.

Following a brief investigation, the men were found to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, assorted prescription pills, and large quantities of cash. Both individuals were arrested on an array of charges.

The following day on Thursday, May 23, a unified front of law enforcement agencies conducted a concentrated patrol in Washington County. The collaborative effort resulted in the issuance of a multitude of citations and warnings, eight arrests, and the seizure of many drugs and one firearm.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Sandersville Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigations Middle Georgia Gang Task Force, Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia Department of Community Supervision teamed to jointly execute these operations.

“As I’ve emphasized before, our commitment to proactive law enforcement remains unwavering,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “We are dedicated to protecting the law-abiding citizens of Washington County and will continue to do so with vigilance.”
