Gregory Arthur Brantley, age 46, of Sandersville passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene of Sandersville with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Gary Mimbs and Reverend Joe Crosby will officiate. Pallbearers will be Travis Barron, Dan Vowell, David Orce, Blake Sterling, James Tomlinson, Bill Frost, Jason Kilpatrick, and Terrill Holsey. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Brantley was born in Dublin and raised in Washington County. He was a 1996 graduate of the Washington County High School. Greg began his working career at Lapp Insulator before later employment with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Poly Pipe Inc. Mr. Brantley most recently worked as a Supply Room Manager with Trojan Battery. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sandersville. Greg held a passion for being outdoors and a talent for hunting and fishing. Mr. Brantley was a loving and devoted family member and friend. Following a bleak six-month prognosis and his cancer diagnosis, he valiantly battled for the next six years – never complaining, hiding his pain, and still doing for others.
Survivors include his wife Nickie Brantley of Sandersville; son, Briar Brantley; stepson, Bryce Hood; mother, Helen Woods of Warthen; father, Larry Brantley and wife Frances of Ludowici; sister, Jennifer Wood of Warthen; niece, Evie Hood; mother-in-law, Karen J. Sellars of Deepstep; sister-in-law, Kelly S. Hood and husband Ryan of Deepstep; special aunt, Annie Mae Taylor of Sandersville, and his beloved pets, Paisley, Bella, Chrissie, and Mia.
