Drugs Seized as Two are Arrested in Foiled Attempt to Smuggle Contraband into Prison

Two out-of-county individuals have been arrested following an unsuccessful attempt to smuggle large amounts of drugs into the Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

On the evening of Monday, June 3, an on-patrol deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified “suspicious” activity near the prison.

Through swift action and coordinated efforts, the deputy apprehended a pair of individuals attempting to pass a hefty quantity of marijuana and methamphetamine across guard lines and into the facility.

“Our team remains steadfast in our mission to protect and serve the community. The continuous efforts to thwart prison drops are a testament to the vigilance and professionalism of our deputies,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “We will continue to apply pressure on those who seek to undermine the safety of our facilities and the well-being of our residents, workers, and inmates.”

Kimberly Taylor-Moore, age 39, and Terrence Moore, age 38, both of Covington were taken into custody.

Both were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, two counts of possession of a scheduled 2 controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a scheduled 5 controlled substance with the intent to distribute, trading with inmates without the consent of the warden, trafficking marijuana, and trafficking methamphetamine.

Kimberly Taylor-Moore was also issued charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, serious injury by a vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, aggressive driving, speeding, failure to obey a stop sign, and driving too fast for conditions.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that the Washington State Prison remains secure,” Sheriff Cochran said. “The safety of our community is my top priority, and we will not tolerate any actions that jeopardize this commitment.”

According to the Sheriff, additional arrests concerning this incident are forthcoming.

Since the start of last year, 58 arrests have stemmed from 22 foiled attempts to smuggle contraband into the prison in Davisboro.
