Mr. Soloman Francis Jackson, age 87, of Tennille, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 25th surrounded by family at his residence. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, June 28th at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville with burial to follow in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Bill Snipes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dean Ennis, Biff Garrard, Dan Glover, Randy Lord, Walter Davis, and David Hooks. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Jackson was born on January 13, 1937, the son of the late Francis Marion Jackson and the late Thelma Smith Jackson. He was reared on his family’s farm in Riddleville, farming with his father from an early age. Francis began his working career with a 13-year stint at the Washington Manufacturing Company before transitioning into the Kaolin Industry, working 44 years at the KT Clay Company, retiring as Plant Manager. In retirement, Mr. Jackson worked for his “fishing money” with Howard Sheppard Trucking. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Francis was a member of the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years, volunteering much time to the Church Brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife, Darnell Helton Jackson of Tennille; son, Jerry Jackson and wife Laurie of Metter; granddaughters, Krystal Pittman and husband Bradley of Tennille and Kaitlin Callaway and husband Craig of Warthen; and great-grandsons, Jackson Pittman and Paxton Pittman.
