Last week, the Washington County Board of Commissioners voted to revoke the liquor license of the Cornbread Pool Room in Tennille.
As previously reported by WACO 100, the business venue had been the site of multiple acts of gun violence in recent months.
75-year-old David Ellison, the owner of Cornbread Pool Room, was arrested at his home on August 16 for violating his beer and liquor license and operating a disorderly establishment. The arrest was via a superior court warrant.
At their meeting last Thursday, Commissioners unanimously voted in favor of revoking the liquor license.
Cornbread Pool Room, located on the 700 block of Matthews Road, has seen three individuals injured by two separate shooting incidents in the past 5 months.
In the midnight hours of a Sunday morning in April, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to calls of over 25 shots being fired at the location.
Upon arriving at Cornbread, responding law enforcement did not find any injured individuals or suspected shooters.
A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office received the report of an injured male subject at a residence on Irwin Avenue in Tennille. The call claimed that the man had been shot in the previous incident.
Although, after arriving at the home, deputies were alerted that the injured man had fled the scene.
Then, just before 12:30 a.m. on August 11, deputies were again dispatched to reports of shots fired at Cornbread’s Pool Room.
This time, deputies discovered two injured individuals with apparent gunshot wounds.
An ensuing investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Travon Nicardrick Hutchinson of Wrightsville.
Hutchinson, known by the alias of “Pete Graddy,” is wanted on 3 counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commitment of a felony.
He remains at large. The search for wanted man has been turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Squad.
According to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran, the two people hurt in the latest shooting both sustained non-life threatening injuries and are currently recovering.
The Sheriff also stated that he previously approached David Ellison over a year ago to voice concerns about the reported violence at his club.
Sheriff’s Office deputies had been dispatched to the establishment over 20 times in the past 3 years.
Cornbread Pool Room is currently closed via action by the Superior Court Judge at the request of Sheriff Cochran.
