Mrs. Boatright was born in Sandersville, one of twelve children to the late William Dudley Smith and the late Frances Theresa Zagar Smith. She dedicated over 43 years to service the health of her community as a nurse at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Peggy was regarded as the epitome of true southern hospitality, ensuring that any visitor to her house was fed, even the mail carriers. Mrs. Boatright enjoyed camping, cooking, sewing, and tending her flowers. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her three boys, whom she fed lunch to every day, even as adults. Peggy also treasured her grandchildren. An animal lover, Mrs. Boatright provided a home to many stray cats and dogs, making sure they, too, had enough to eat. Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mack Alan Boatright, Sr.; and siblings, Charles Smith, Jule Smith, and Shirley Landry.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Boatright and wife Rachel of Tennille, Mack Alan Boatright, Jr. and wife Iries of Tennille, and Christopher Michael Boatright of Tennille; grandchildren, Hannah Garner and husband Landon, Will Durden and wife Lily, Alyssa Boatright, Ryan Boatright, and Ethan Asher Boatright; siblings, William Smith, Christopher Smith, Larry Smith, Michael Smith, Nora Rachels, Angie Easterly, Mabel Jenkins, and Schynell Bragg; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family may be contacted at the home of Jason and Rachel Boatright in Tennille.
