Providing the community with an opportunity to recognize our local heroes, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office recently presented awards to some overwhelmingly deserving officers and employees.

Each year, Sheriff Joel Cochran honors these recipients at the Annual Sheriff’s Office Employee Luncheon.

“It was a wonderful chance to come together, celebrate, and recognize the incredible work being done every day in our community,” said Sheriff Cochran. “Congratulations to our award recipients. You’ve gone above and beyond, and we’re proud to honor your dedicated service.”

The following individuals were presented accolades during the awards luncheon:

Deputy Of The Year – Sergeant T.J. Farthing
Part Time Deputy Of The Year – Sergeant Rudy Grant
Jailer Of The Year – Victoria Pulliam
Most Improved Deputy – Deputy Larry Reeves
Most Improved Jailer – Jennifer Kitchens
Traffic Enforcement – Sergeant T.J. Farthing
Warrants – Sergeant T.J. Farthing
DUI Enforcement – Lieutenant Ben Perdue

During the Sheriff’s Office Annual Employee Luncheon, Sheriff Cochran also announced the promotion of Tommy Taylor to the rank of Lieutenant.

The previous week, Cochran administered an oath of office for new Deputy John Taylor Hodges upon his graduation from the Georgia Police Academy in Forsyth.

A near lifelong resident of Washington County, Deputy Hodges previously served in the United States Military and remains in the U.S. Army Reserves.

“We are proud and excited to have Deputy Hodges working alongside our brother and sister law enforcement professionals,” said Sheriff Cochran. “I am grateful for all of the contributions made to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Let’s keep up the great work as we move forward together.”
