Mrs. Joann Mixon Evans, age 79, of Linton Forest Drive in Sandersville passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Tennille Baptist Church. Reverend Tony Mimbs and Reverend Andy Carter will officiate.

Mrs. Evans was born in Washington County and reared in Jenkins County, the daughter of the late Lynell Mixon and Maude Cordry Mixon. She relocated back to Sandersville from Millen with her husband in 1971 and worked as a homemaker and bookkeeper for their plumbing and electrical business. Joann enjoyed fishing in the lake at her home, cooking for family and friends, and travelling, especially to the casino in Cherokee, North Carolina. Mrs. Evans cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Joann is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Adams.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Joe Evans of Sandersville; sons, Marty Evans and wife Lori of Macon, Jody Evans and wife Shelia of Sandersville, and Todd Evans and wife Melissa of Warthen; daughter-in-law, Eloise Adams of Sandersville; grandchildren, Carin Jones and husband Michael, Ainsley Jones and husband Joey, Bethany Adams, Zachary Evans, Mason Evans, Max Evans, Myles Evans, Josh Evans, Haley Evans, Brittany Boone, Cheyenne Kirk, and Piper Kirk; great-grandchildren, Carter Young, Harper Young, Sally Tanner, Avery Jones, and Holden Jones; sister-in-law, Sally Mixon of Savannah; and best friend, Jane Randall of Riddleville.
