After nearly 54 years, a well-known and established bank branch is closing its doors.

Citizens Bank of the South is dissolving their Sandersville branch office at 818 South Harris Street.

At the close of business on Friday, December 27, Citizens Bank will permanently cease full services at the location. Operations will be transitioned to the Citizens Bank of the South Main Office at 132 South Harris Street.

According to Bank President and CEO David Brooker, the decision to close the branch location was made after a multi-year study that evaluated customer transaction activity. He stated that research highlighted an enormous increase in the usage of electronic banking services by former in-person customers of the branch.

“Since 1971, Citizens Bank of the South’s Sandersville branch location has served our community by providing customer-focused financial services,” said David Brooker. “Our priority is to ensure that all our customers, especially those of our south-side branch, have the most effortless transition possible with this change.”

While the CBOTS branch is discontinuing full services, the location will maintain a permanent ATM. The soon-to-be former branch site will still dispense cash withdraws and allow cash and check deposits to debit card holders.

All employees of the branch office will be relocating to the Citizens Bank main office.

“Through this process, we will deliver a seamless customer service experience that furthers our commitment to providing personal attention to the needs and requirements of our customers,” said President and CEO Brooker. “We will provide any necessary updates and information to our valued Citizens Bank of the South customers.”
