Washington County Public Schools are celebrating “Accredited with Quality” status for all classes – Pre-K through 12th Grade.
The school district received the distinction earlier this month from the Georgia Accrediting Commission for their 2024 – 2025 school year.
“Accreditation with Quality” is the highest honor awarded by the Commission, which annually reviews schools for their organization, personnel, program of studies, finances, state of facilities, and safety.
The stated mission of the Georgia Accrediting Commission is to establish standards promoting instruction of high quality for children in Georgia and to encourage schools to meet those marks.
The accreditation process was formed to uphold these standards – strengthening the levels of education in each school and showcasing to the general public if schools are utilizing best practices.
Accreditation is awarded by a team of Georgia Accrediting Commission independent educators with decades of experience working in schools – from the classroom to the boardroom.
With their skills and knowledge, this group claims aim at stimulating schools to achieve and maintain a high level of professional integrity and competence and provide better, safer physical facilities to improve the qualifications of staff members, teaching conditions, and curriculum.
Principals of the Washington County High School, T.J. Elder Middle School, Ridge Road Elementary School, and Ridge Road Primary School were all recently presented with a framed document of accreditation by Interim Superintendent Sandra McMaster to highlight the accomplishment of those working within the educational institutions.
“We are extremely proud of all of our staff for their continued dedication to the students and families of Washington County,” said McMaster. “It’s great to be a Golden Hawk!”
