Sandersville Mayor: We Won’t Tolerate this Type of Activity

“We’re not going to tolerate this type of activity in Sandersville,” said Sandersville Mayor Jimmy Andrews when discussing the Sunday, June 14 shooting that took place in the parking lot at Waffle House in Sandersville.

The Mayor and Council discussed the incident during their Monday, June 15 City Council meeting.

“It started out in the County, and it spilled over into the City at the Waffle House then to Enmark,” said Mayor Andrews.

One minor injury was reported from this incident. The victim sustained an injury to his left leg near his ankle.

According to Mayor Andrews, the Sandersville Police Department is working closely with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office concerning this incident.

Mayor Andrews asked the public to be safe.

“If you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to call 911 and report it,” said Mayor Andrews. He added, “I want to assure the public that the Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies are working together to stay on top of this.”

Mayor Andrews continued by urging the public to be patient and to be calm.

“We’re going to get through all this together,” said Mayor Andrews.

Sandersville Police Chief Victor Cuyler remarked that the Sandersville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are working together to identify the perpetrators.

“Once we have that information, we’ll move forward with the charges that are appropriate,” said Sandersville Police Chief Cuyler.
