Washington County Sheriff Alerts Public of Recent Increase in Vehicle Break-Ins

On Saturday, August 1, Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran issued a public service announcement to residents of Washington County concerning a recent increase in the illegal entry of local vehicles.

“We have recently been experiencing a rise in entering auto cases,” said Sheriff Cochran. “Some surrounding counties are having the same issue.”

The Washington County Sheriff urged all residents to remember to lock their automobiles at night. He also reminded individuals to remove all valuables, especially firearms, from vehicles.

“Please be vigilant and observant of your surroundings,” said Sheriff Cochran.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office asks residents to report suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1.
