Washington County Sees Record Turnout in Recent Runoff

Voter turnout in runoff elections is often low. Not this time, though.

According to the official election summary, 65.12 percent of Washington County’s voters voted in the Tuesday, January 5 runoff election.

As reported by WACO 100 on Election night, Washington County has 13,152 registered voters. With this most recent election, 8,565 voters cast their ballots.

Three races were on the Tuesday, January 5 ballot:

The General Run-off for U.S. Senate: Incumbent Republican candidate David A. Perdue faced Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff.

The General Run-off for Public Service Commission for District Four: Incumbent Republican candidate Lauren “Bubba” McDonald” faced Democratic candidate Daniel Blackman.

The Special Run-off for U.S. Senate: Incumbent Republican candidate Kelly Loeffler faced Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock.

The official and complete results for Washington County for those three races are as follows:

– Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff defeated the Incumbent Republican candidate David A. Perdue. Ossoff received 4,368 votes, or 51.21 percent; Perdue received 4,161 votes, or 48.79 percent.

– Democratic candidate Daniel Blackman defeated Incumbent Republican candidate Lauren “Bubba” McDonald for Public Service Commission. Blackman received 4,192 votes, or 50.33 percent; McDonald received 4,137 votes, or 49.67 percent.

– Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock defeated Incumbent Republican candidate Kelly Loeffler for U.S. Senate. Warnock received 4,398 votes, or 51.49 percent; Loeffler received 4,144 votes, or 48.51 percent.
