The Washington County Board of Education’s District One Board member Paul Turner announced his resignation during the Thursday, January 7 Board of Education meeting.
Turner stated during the meeting that he and his wife had recently moved from District One into District Four in Washington County, therefore he must resign from the Board.
“It’s been an honor to serve with the other members of the Washington County Board of Education and with the Superintendent,” said Turner. He added, “We have always maintained a Board of high integrity with one goal in mind, and that is to serve the students of this county to the very best of our ability, delivering excellence in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts.”
Turner served on the Washington County Board of Education for 25 years.
“I am excited about our move, but sad to leave the Board before the end of my term,” said Turner, adding, “I know you will find a great candidate to fill my unexpired term, and I pray that individual will come on board with an open mind and a big heart to do what is always best for our students and staff.”
The Washington County Board of Education plans to honor Turner at a future Board meeting.
