The Georgia Department of Labor recently reported Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of May 2021.
The latest statistics from the Department of Labor show Washington County with a 4.9 percent unemployment rate, an increase from the previous month. Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of April 2021 was 4.7 percent. For May of 2020, Washington County’s unemployment rate was 7.2 percent.
According to data presented by the Georgia Department of Labor’s Workforce Statistics and Economic Research shows the labor force for Washington County during May of this year was 6,907 with 6,571 employed and 336 unemployed. The previous month’s work force was 6,962 with 6,637 employed and 325 unemployed. These numbers are not seasonally adjusted.
Unemployment rates for May 2021 as reported by the Georgia Department of Labor for surrounding counties are as follows:
– Baldwin: 4.8 percent, an increase from the previous month’s 4.6 percent
– Glascock: 2.4 percent, an increase from the previous month’s 2.1 percent
– Hancock: 5.9 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s 6.3 percent
– Jefferson: 4.7 percent, a decrease from the previous month’s 4.9 percent
– Johnson: 3.4 percent, unchanged from the previous month’s unemployment rate
– Laurens: 4.2 percent, unchanged from the previous month’s unemployment rate
– Wilkinson: 3.8 percent, an increase from the previous month’s 3.7 percent
The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) was 4.1 percent in May of 2021. This mirrored the previous month’s unemployment rate. The unemployment rate for the Central Savannah River Region was 8.2 percent in May of 2020.
The Central Savannah River Region includes the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes.
Georgia’s “not seasonally-adjusted” unemployment rate for May 2021 was 3.9 percent, also identical to the previous month’s unemployment rate. In May of 2020, the state unemployment rate was 9.5 percent.
