Mr. Arlie Robert Marshall, age 67, of Betty Street in Sandersville passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 2:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Scott Thompson and Reverend Wade Dawson will officiate. Pallbearers will be William Bridges, Chris Cook, John Garner, Shane Hart, David Hartley, Frank Hatcher, and John Robert Marshall. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19th from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville.

Mr. Marshall was born in Sandersville on March 8, 1956, the son of the late Arlie Hanson “Buck” Marshall and the late Mary Frances Sumner Marshall. He graduated from high school in Harrison before beginning a 49-year career in the Kaolin industry with Georgia Kaolin, Imerys, and Thiele Kaolin. Robert possessed a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles and was regarded as a talented mechanic. Mr. Marshall was musically inclined, able to play most any instrument. He enjoyed working in his shop and caring for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Byrnes Marshall of Sandersville; sons, John Robert Marshall of Decatur and Christopher David Marshall of Sandersville; and siblings, Mary R. Garner and husband John of Warthen and Norman Marshall of Tennille.
