Mr. Chester Dwight “Ike” Boyd, age 71, of Tennille passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his residence. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, December 10th at 3:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will offer remarks remarks of remembrance. Interment will follow in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Blackmon, Tyler Brett, Kevin Lindsey, Lindsey Smith, Trent Toussau, and Mark Yarbrough. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was born and raised in Washington County, the son of the late J.D. Boyd, Jr. and the late Frances Smith Boyd. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Ike was fondly regarded an easy-going friend, who never met a stranger. Mr. Boyd was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and University of Georgia Football Team. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, dancing, and spending cherished time with his beloved family. Ike is preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Dale Boyd, Dennis Boyd, Claire Brett, and Michael Boyd.
Survivors include his children, Anne Marie Boyd of Tennille and Dwight David Boyd and wife Jamie of Ishpeming, Michigan; grandchildren, Kelcie King and Kaeden King of Tennille and Ella Boyd, Daphne Boyd, and Abram Ike Boyd of Ishpeming, Michigan; sister, Sandra Bird of Douglas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
