Mrs. Nora Burgamy Anderson, age 79, of Tennille passed away on Tuesday, August 13 at the Heritage Inn in Sandersville following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Hill Methodist Church of Warthen with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Don Black and Reverend Dr. Brian Welch will officiate. Pallbearers will be Keith Everett, Jamie Reynolds, Ricky Sheppard, Gary Hinton, Mikey Hinton, Daniel Anderson, and Tory Mimbs. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Anderson, Bobby Anderson, and Carolyn Harrelson. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Warthen, the daughter of the late Alton Reece Burgamy and the late Alma Beulah Beasley Burgamy. She was a graduate of the Washington County High School and college with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Nora began her working career with the Georgia Department of Transportation before transitioning into real estate, as an agent with Century 21 and Town and Country. Mrs. Anderson also co-owned the Fashion Gallery dress shop with her sister, the late Lavo Todd. She was a faithful member of Pine Hill Methodist Church, where she began serving as the church pianist at the age of 13, playing beautiful gospel hymns for over 60 years. Nora was known as a fabulous baker, especially of her red velvet and caramel cakes. In addition to baking, Mrs. Anderson enjoyed sewing and crafting. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Hubert Hawkins, B.C. Hawkins, Ernest Hawkins, Saxon Hawkins, Lamar Hawkins, Ray Hawkins, John Hawkins, Jake Hawkins, Lavo Todd, Gladys Holmes, Lonice Brady, and Sara Seabring.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, David Anderson; son, Charles Anderson and wife Cheryl of Sandersville; daughter, Teresa Rhodes and husband Ron of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Daniel Anderson and wife Meredith and Sydney Oliver and husband Will; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister, Edna Hinton of Thomson.
