Last Friday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested eight individuals across multiple incidents on drug-related charges.

Assisted by the Middle Georgia Gang Task Force, Sandersville Police Department, Department of Community Supervision, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, a search warrant was served at a residence on Gum Street in Sandersville.

The ensuing search yielded an amount of narcotics.

As a result, 64-year-old Robert Johnson of Sandersville was arrested and charged with three counts of the sale of cocaine.

The Middle Georgia Task Force also assisted the Sheriff’s Office with a number of ongoing investigations that resulted in the arrest of four further individuals.

54-year-old Howard Swint and 47-year-old Donald Sutton, Jr., of Sandersville were charged with two counts of the sale of cocaine. Sutton was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Anthony Williams, age 30, of Warthen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and a probation violation.

William Hall, age 39, of Tennille was charged with possession of cocaine, a parole violation, the false report of a crime, fleeing or attempting to elude, failure to obey a stop sign, and failure to maintain lane.

Concerning unplanned arrests, last Friday morning Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted of a vehicle that was stuck on a dirt road in the area of the Washington State Prison in Davisboro.

A Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 assisted deputies with an ensuing investigation. The police dog located contraband smuggled into the prison.

Danielle Mangum, age 29, of Claremont was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, the crossing of guard lines, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and trading with inmates.

“You would think that the word would have gotten around that we were out and about this morning making drug arrests,” said Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran. “However, around lunch, a Sheriff’s Office Investigator patrolling the area of West Elder Street in Sandersville witnessed a hand-to-hand drug sale.”

According to the Sheriff, two individuals were arrested on site.

59-year-old Freddie Flemming and 32-year-old Justin Sutton of Sandersville were charged with the possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. Sutton was also charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, the trafficking of cocaine, and the possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

“We’re committed to keeping drugs out of Washington County,” said Sheriff Cochran. “Our team, alongside our partners, is tirelessly working to stop the flow and sale of illegal substances in our community. Together, we’ll continue to fight against this threat to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. We won’t back down.”
